Hi, I’m Aziz Khan, but most people know me as Sinbad—a TV guy turned technical diver, underwater explorer, and your future scuba instructor.
So, why do people trade land for the sea? For me, it all started with a camera and a question: What’s down there? As a documentary filmmaker, I wanted to take my lens where most wouldn’t dare. But the ocean doesn’t just open up for anyone—you’ve got to earn it. That meant diving in the cold, the dark, and the deep. That meant becoming a deep diver, a wreck diver, and eventually, an underwater storyteller.
Oh, and somewhere along the way, I won a U.S. Government Gold Medal for my series Into the Depths of History. Cool, right? I didn’t just want to dive—I wanted to teach diving. But not the boring, checklist kind. I teach scuba the way I wish someone had taught me during my open water course: with excitement, challenge, and moments where you surprise yourself.
I want you to finish a dive thinking, “Whoa—I did that?”
Because trust me, you can.
I became an instructor because I wanted to teach diving the way I would have wanted it to be taught when I was doing my open water course. An instructor is not there just to show you what needs to be done as a youtube video can do that! He or she is there to allow you to be amazed at your own self and all my courses are designed with that philosophy in mind. “Jeez … I never knew I could do that!” is what they will make you say … if our fins ever cross.
Years of Experience
Here’s the deal: anyone can be taken underwater but not everyone becomes a diver. That takes time, patience, and real practice. My scuba classes are small, personal, and hands-on. We repeat skills until they become second nature, so you’re not just visiting the ocean you belong in it.
